(just cos it deserves its own new thread)

well, what a day! was fab to see so many of you, and thank you to all the well wishers who were not able to make it.

Resurgam will get a report up on the site asap, and hopefully as many of the gang who attended will pop in here today / tonight when we have finished work / woken up / got home etc

but in short it was a great day. the lawyers we met made lots of positive noises, and lots of mp's came to the meeting and offered their support. things got a little bizaare when a line formed for the mp's to have their photo taken with us! but when in rome ....

in all honesty, i'm not sure i know who all of them were, but there were some familar faces amongst them.

comedy moment of the day had to be when it took a deligation of 4 armed security guards to ask me to remove my logo'ed t-shirt, because it broke the SOCPA demo ban rules. they had automatic rifle so i agreed. (although questions we're later raised as to what would have happened if i hadn't had a dress on underneth) (maybe nude terrorists are less dangerous, i don't know)

and Auntie, you're wrong! anyone who is brave enough to carry the big boots i've been wearing all day in that heat is definitely a star!

It absolutely does deserve its own thread!

We had a fantastic day in London; hugely productive and it was lovely to meet so many of our members in person - thank you for coming along to support YOUR campgain.

The lawyers are very keen to help and have offerred there time and expertise free of charge BUT we need to do some serious fundraising as we need to hold at least £15,000 in case any case is awarded against and we incur HMRC's costs. Get your thinking caps on folks for some good ideas/. If we can all raise a little it will soon add up to a lot.

Out webmaster has already updated the site with a report on the day and photo so have a look at that for the full details - under 'Latest news'.

Finally, it is true PJ has to remove her t-shirt before she was allowed to enter Portcullis House. As there was a photographer from the Press Association also outside it was a shame PJ had a dress on under the t-shirt! Perhaps the way forward is to all wear t-shirts next time with only underwear underneath; may get us some publicity .........

We had strong and moving speeches from Sarah and Graham, and PJ was able to get further info into the question responses, eg. what actions HMRC had taken in response to last year's meeting with us - the answer being many broken promises. As the 'Latest News' section of www.taxCC will show, we had previously had a successful meeting with our lawyers who are most keen - being quite amazed at the cavalier way in which HMRC treats us - to pursue legal action. They are doing so without charge - but whilst we assemble cases for them, we need also to FUNDRAISE as HMRC will want to be assured, in defending the case(s) against them, that their opponents (us) could cover costs in the event that we were to lose. So whilst we are working on the 'how' of this - please feel free to fundraise and/or contribute ideas!

Some latecoming MPs didn't sign in, and to that list I must add Sarah McCarthy-Fry, Labour MP, Portsmouth North, who is also - I believe - PPS to Geoff Hoon, the Chief Whip, and a staunch loyalist of Gordon Brown. To win her over is no mean feat. She has already noted the 'catalogue of errors' on my own case, but has so far been reluctant to acknowledge the wider scale and deeper impact of this, nor is she supportive of an Amnesty. I will see she has a copy of 'Voices of the Victims' if she did not leave the room with one. Was there a third Labour MP there who did not sign in? Blaydon Labour MP Dave Anderson told Alan there was...

I ask because the Opposition will spread the word like wildfire; it is only Labour we expect to be cagey, and we must get more Labour MPs on our side.

Suggestions, please, on who to send a copy of 'Voices' to for best effect... We have some ideas, of course, but this is where you can come in - help us identify key policy-changers and - perhaps - a philanthropist or two prepared to sponsor us should we lose to HMRC? (Bearing in mind if we were to win right through to the last apperal stage for HMRC - maybe we should tell them 'you cannot appeal...' like they do us?!!)

Anyone know Richard Branson?

Sarah, I was trying not to bite! Alan is obviously referring to 'Mum', but with that pugilistic Geordie twinkle in his eye!

Perhaps we should run a Captions contest?
