Hi everyone first of all can I just say that this website is amazing. It is so good to know that we can support each other.
I am currently disputing an o/p for the tax year 2003/04. At the end of 2007 I requested and received my data from tco, however I have been ill since then and the last thing I felt like doing was to go through what looked like a pile of gobbledeygook. This week I have received a Notice warning of legal proceedings. There is no indication of what year they are talking about just them telling me that if payment in full is not made they will commence enforcement proceedings.
Is it reasonable for me to write to them telling them that the dispute is still ongoing?
I am just going through the data now and have already found 2 pages that belong to someone else showing all their details! This just proves to me how sloppy they are. I only hope that none of my data has been sent to someone else by mistake as these days you never know what might happen.

Hi Kats56

You will neeed to get your mp involved double quick, they will be able to get any court action stopped,i would also tell you MP about the data lapse as well.seeing as you have someone elses information as well.the link below gives you all the information you will need

http://www.taxcc.org./

And yes carry on disputing..get the CAB involved as well as your MP.

others will be along that may give more advice..

The truth is out there.. GO get it......Non Illigitamus Carborundum

Hi Kats & welcome.

Robert's advice is sound and the sooner you get your MP and the Citizens Advice Bureau involved the better. Your MP does have a hotline to HMRC to et cases of recovery stopped. Tell him/her also about the other persons date that you have received and serously think about taking this up with the media - local press to start with. HMRC really do not like being on the receiving end of "negative publicity" and they have handed you a large stick that you can use to beat them with. (In football parlance I think they have scored an own goal here!)

Apathy rules OK - so why do I bother?

Kats, I have emailed you! Please get in touch, if that's not too cryptic!

Thanks for your advice, I'm in the process of contacting my MP and have replied to the letter from TCO telling them that my dispute is still ongoing. I have also told them that I found someone else's details among my own and asked them how on earth they can be sure that none of my details have gone out to anyone else! I await their reply with interest!
Ali I have e-mailed you with my details.

Well do Katz. Keep up the pressure.
TCC have been nominated in the New Statesman media awards, it would be great if you could post a comment at:
