Finding this site has given me encouragement to fight the WTC's claim that I have been overpaid. I cant believe how many people have been overpaid!! Well I can... its a government agency!
I was advised in 2006 by the Job Centre that my partner and I might be elegible for WTC. It was the worst financial advice we have ever been given!!! I informed WTC that I had finished Job seekers Nov 06-May 07 - I hadnt found a job and I didnt have enough NI credits to continue. So I have relied on a small amount of pension to add to my partner's earnings.
Somehow in the renewal 07-08 this was recorded as Nov 06 - May 08. Even tho I had informed them and it was stated properly on the form. They then said we owed WTC £2500, I appealed in June 08 and it appeal was turned down.. I should have spotted their mistake!!! So we have had £23 deducted from our WTC payments since July.
My partner went self employed in September and I must admit Ive only just informed WTC of the change.. they have stopped payments and are demanding 'their' money.
I am 60 in August and will be getting my State Pension. This debt leaves me speachless as Ive never been in debt before.
Ive signed the petition and put the link on my Facebook page.
I now have to go thru your info and see what I do next.
