I could do with some advice. I have three ongoing tax credits disputes. One from 2004-2005, another from 2005-6 and now I'm told that I have to dispute overpayments from June-Oct this year. The 2004-2005 overpayment concerns a lump sum they say I received from my employer - I can prove that I didn't (if only they'd let me). The 2005-2006 hgappened cause they said they were going to stop paying me through my employer and start paying direct. They carried on paying both. I rang to ask what was going on and was told the computer system was down and that someone would be in touch if there was a problem. No one did contact me till they came back with a demand for 3500 pounds .

I appealed the 2005-2006, got knocked back then suddenly they overpayment amount grew by 1400 and when I called to asked what was going on they announced I had had a lump sum from my employer in 2004. I certainly didn't get that monet and my employer will confirm. So I appealed again and have heard nothing since but repayments are on hold.

Now I have got a job abroad. So when I left the Uk I rand them and said to stop my claim, then I returned my annual review and that restarted them claim. I rang again and they said they stop it and sent a wierd form asking about benefit claims outside the uk (we have none) and for loads of info about my partner (who doesn't work cause he does the childcare). I rang them again and said that I didn't want to claim or receive any more payments. Told them I was worried cause they were still paying, was told not to worry as they could see I had told them about leaving UK, no mention of the form.

Yesterday got a letter saying I had not filled in form and that I must. So rang again. Got told the information requested on form was to check our entitlement prior to leaving UK and that all payments since June (2000 roughly) were now classed as overpayment because I had not returned the form asking about my partner. Apparently now I have to go through the dispute process again which scares me witless cause I know it takes years and that they just don't listen to what you tell them. I already have some pretty heavy debts which I am paying off but this makes me feel like I will never be out of debt. What on earth can I do
