A simple call to notify a change of job and earnings resulted in a 5k overpayment and an extra 98 pounds a week.
For some reason she entered my earnings for the previous tax year as zero.
I contacted them only to be told if it was wrong someone would be in contact within three months.
4 years later and three appeals have got us no where except for them telling us it was our error for giving wrong information.
Still owe over 4k.paying a tenner back each week.

Hi Bunior1,

Zeroing salaries was a common fault with the computer software. See the bottom of this page: http://www.taxcc.org/Dispute_How_it_Happened.html.

I would recommend starting a new 'dispute' (not an appeal) by following our dispute steps: http://www.taxcc.org/Dispute_1st_things_1st.html, especially claiming your data - which is step two.

Don't let them get away with it!

Others will be along soon to give you their advice.

Best of luck!

Webmaster beat me to this one..

It was a common fault, if you done two changes at the same time..job and earnings. the computer would zero your salary, and if you questioned the paymnets the TCO office would always say the payments were correct..time to get your MP on the case as well.

http://www.theyworkforyou.com/ you can use this site, to send an e-mail to your MP as well.. it's good if you dont get a response as the site keeps tabs on which MP are helpful, and contacts you to see if they responded..

The truth is out there.. GO get it......Non Illigitamus Carborundum

Hi bunior, I hope you have found the information on the website useful - you need to get your SAR request sent off and you should (eventually) receive recordings of your telephone calls which might help you with your dispute. Once your dispute is submitted, recovery of debts will be put on hold. Keep us informed of how you get on, it can all seem very complicated at first so don't be afraid to keep coming back to the forum for advice.

Part of my role with tax credit casualties is to help raise awareness of the website and our campaign for an amnesty by liaising with other organisations. It would be really helpful to know how you found out about this forum and tax credit casualties as it could help know how successful I am being!

If you don't wish to post here about how you knew about the forum, you can email me: jess@taxcc.org.uk Any information you give me may be shared amongst the the co-ordinators and webmaster, but will not be released outside of ourselves in any identifiable form that could be attributed to you.

good luck
