I was beginning to think I was fighting the HMRC on my own,I knew there were a lot of people affected like me but there never seems to be any public exposure.Since The Times newspaper won their test case there has been no further coverage.I am about to see my MP (who is very supportive) to get a Tribunal Hearing for my case and I will be back with any helpful information I can get.In the meantime I will be putting posters up in every public facility I can and telling people of this Forum. My MP was involved in the Parliamentary vote on the 'writing off'of Tax Credits overpayments butshe was narrowly defeated-it may be a good idea if everyone wrote to their Labour MP asking them to look into their personal cases-it would certainly bring the scale of the problem to their attention.

Hi, glad you are on side!
Check out the new 3rd Sector topic in this forum - its aimed at any community group, from out of school clubs, brownie groups, youth clubs, day centres, support groups aswell as registered charities etc - they can swop information about their group or organisation and ask for advice about tax credits issues or request advice from other 3rd sector groups about other issues. Its a free, quick resource which will hopefully grow in time.
I can be contacted direct, as 3rd Sector Liaison officer for Tax Credit Casualties, by email : jess@taxcc.org |

Hi
What Times test case are you referring to? Also, you said that your MP is trying to get a tribunal hearing - are you challenging your entitlement or do you have an overpayment you are trying to get written off under the dispute processes?
Many people confused Appeal rights with disputes, only if it is actually an appeal (defined in tax credit legislation - section 38 TCA 2002) will it eventually go before a tribunal.
Just thought I would mention this in case there is any confusion.

Where Gordon Brown & his HMRC Gestapo are involved there is always confusion - and intimidation!
