Hi everyone
Really need some advice. The background is:
- i was claiming tax credits as a single parent of 1 child
- in September 2009 i rang the helpline to advise that my partner had moved in. They advised me to put it in writing which i did straightaway.
- in February i returned to work full time so i sent a letter advising this as well as reminding them that my partner had moved in (as I had not heard anything)
-few weeks later i received a letter asking for details of when my partner moved in so i sent them the copy i had of the 1st letter sent in September
- i've since received a letter saying i'd been overpaid by approx 1500 and they want the payment NOW. Since Februaury we have not received any money whatsoever even though I requested to apply as a couple (i suplied all my partner's details).

Can someone please tell me what I should do? I am planning on ringing the helpline asap but I was wanting some advice before I do.

"The best way to take control over a people and control them utterly is to take a little of their freedom at a time, to erode rights by a thousand tiny and almost imperceptible reductions.

In this way the people will not see those rights and freedoms being removed until past the point at which these changes cannot be reversed."
