WE'VE WON......These are the words my partner used.
I thought she mean't the lottery !!!
Not quite but 2nd best ain't bad.
I moved in with my partner in June 2007 and we were advised to fill in the forms they were sending to us. Nothing was said about a 2nd set of forms.Apparently, We should have filled in forms for the single claim and forms for the joint claim.
To my surprise, we were sent a overpayment bill for £1064.
Ever since, I have been fighting this bill.
I have spoken to Paula on 2 or 3 occasions and she has been very helpful and told me not to pay it.
I must admit at times I felt like just phoning HMRC and paying the money.
But I persisted and followed the dispute steps and I got to step 4.
Ben Bradshaw is my MP and I got in touch with his office.
I never spoke to him,it was always his secretary.
We gave her all our details plus the cd with the evidence.
We then received a letter from HMRC saying our appeal was unsucessful.
Not happy with the decision, I told my partner to phone again and demand to see Ben Bradshaw.
She phoned and spoke to the secretary again. She was not overly helpful but said to send another letter of complaint and address it to the 'complaints manager'
We did that and 2 weeks later we received a letter from Ben Bradshaw, saying he had wrote to HMRC as well.
I don't have a copy of the letter he sent, so I don't know what input he had.
But, tonight we had a phone call from his secretary saying we were sucessful.
I await the letter so I can frame it.
Not a bad week. I am getting married on Friday 1st May and the going on a 2 week cruise. I now have an extra £1000 to spend.
HOORAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

I would like to say a big thankyou to T.C.C. I could'nt have done it without them.

Hey! That's brilliant news!!

Well done.

There's a petition that has managed to get past the Downing Street censors, calling for Gordon Brown to resign. If you'd like to sign it, please click on this link: http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/please-go/ .
The Government aren't listening, so let's vote this bunch of spineless, lying scum out of office at the first opportunity!!!

The original 'point & click' interface was a Smith & Wesson !!
