I've not posted anything for a long time now - but thought I'd let you all know how I am doing so far.

I originally came here cause I'd had years of problems with HMRC = seems every year they seem to cancel out the TC because of overpayments in previous years etc.. - it goes back to the start of the TC's - and rolled from one year to the next.

Last year somehow they duplicated our single income and despite dozens of phonecalls and appeal form being completed and proff of income etc.. they were still duplicating last years income meaning we got nothing and were faced with an overpayment again.

I got fed up of phoning, writing and still having same figures duplicated etc.. so I passed it onto my AS/MP along with a whole stack of TC notification letters to display all the errors that had occurred. I also included my TC954 letter from August 2007 where HMRC said they were going back over our stuff etc..from the older years claims etc.. where they'd taken back what they said was overpayments.

My MP is taking it up with Lesley Strathie Chief Executive Officer of HMR&C.

It'll be interesting to see whether anything gets solved now?? Will post when I hear more.

Well done, Elizabeth1, for getting your MP involved.

I've seen a pattern with disputed tax credit overpayment cases. Those prepared to persevere and stand their ground, go to the Press, and/or involve an MP have always eventually won.

Where people get anxious at lack of progress, lose heart and offer repayment - which I can understand - they are effectively backing down before the process is ended, and that's how and when they lose.

I can see you winning this, whether by your own actions or because your MP is also now fighting with and for you.

Prove me right, please - and don't buck the trend. Go on and win this!

Good luck - Ali.

Nice one Elizabeth.

Keep your MP at it, that's what they're for.

"The best way to take control over a people and control them utterly is to take a little of their freedom at a time, to erode rights by a thousand tiny and almost imperceptible
reductions. In this way the people will not see those rights and freedoms being removed until past the point at which these changes cannot be reversed."
