When we place our votes in next month's election, we might want to check out what the person/party we are voting for is intending to do in order to put tax credit injustices right.

Here's what the three main political parties told us they would do:

Please pass this on!

Currently, HMRC can make all manner of mistakes with our tax credit awards, and even though we gave them all the correct details and have probably spent all the money in good faith, we are still expected to repay the taxman. It shouldn't be this way!

So many of our MPs are using the argument that they only claimed their expenses believing them to be their entitlement, and that they acted in accordance with all the rules in place then, only to be virtually criminalised in retrospect. Yet they can't see the irony of pleading for undertanding of their own situation whilst defending the actions of HMRC in clawing back accidentally overpaid tax credits from some of the the poorest families in their constituency!

Currently, HMRC - as everyone here will know - act as judge and jury in their own cause. And the premise is that we are guilty until proven innocent! This is despite HMRC losing/withholding records of vital calls or letters which claimants claim to have made/sent and now seek proof of through making a Subject Access Request (data request). And despite there being an internal policy of staff not disclosing to customers any errors or mitigating circumstances that they become aware of, UNLESS CLAIMANTS ACTUALLY ASK (and not always, even, then).

Years of TCC campaigning has certainly slightly improved matters, but the day we have been waiting for for the last 5 years is finally less than a month away!

Please let's use our votes well to return only those politicians/parties with proven commitment to improving things for us!

And please let's fight harder than ever for the next few weeks to spread the word in whatever way we can, and at the very least find out what our local politicians are promising to do for us!

THANKS for your ongoing support. Please help us to help you.

Morpheus: I'm trying to free your mind, Neo. But I can only show you the door. You're the one that has to walk through it.
