Just received a brown envelope which on first sight I thought might be an interesting letter from TCO.

Turned out to be some sort of notification from HMRC addressed to the previous owner of my house. Nothing much wrong with that maybe except I have been living here nearly two years. The letter was addressed to the previous owner in her single name. They had been married about three years when I bought the house from them. Also, this is the first letter that HMRC has sent here for this lady. Can't work out why they have done this after such a long time. Oh I forgot it takes at least that long to identify overpayments and ask for them back!

HMRC seems to operate on some sort of parallel universe. Has anyone else received stuff not meant for them?

I have had two letters, correctly addressed to me but with someone elses NI Number, marital status, income details, date of divorce, date of re- marrage, overpayment details (alledged), etc. I actually managed to speak to the author of it after quite a few letters of complaint, she basically dismissed it by saying she had simply addressed the letter wrongly, she couldn't answer why she had sent me 2 such letters with different contents.

Apparently it hapens quite often and I shouldn't be concerned..............!!!!!
