hi, ok here i go... on the 22nd july i cancelled my joint claim coz me and my partner had split up, i set up a single claim on the phone and never heard anything from them at all and recieved no payment from them at all. Anyway 3 weeks later me and my partner got back together and i phoned them straight away to advise them of this as id recieved no payment from my single claim anyway i just wanted to stop it in the pipeline. So i had to wait for the forms to come to me in the post and re-fill those out as a joint claim again... Its been nearly 7 weeks now and iv had nothing, iv just found out im pregnant again, my nursery are threatening to give up my childs place as i cant afford to pay them, iv had to hand the notice in on my apartment because i cant keep up with nursery fees and bills!! The strss is making me so worried which i know is no good for my baby! I phoned them last night and they said there is some confusion because my name appears on two claims one single and one joint so it will take longer to process, but why cant they just cance3l the other one like they said they had when i phoned them and they sent forms for a new joint claim!!!! why is it so confusing for them! how can i speed up this process!! Also i asked about interim payments and they said they cant guarentee il get any!!! Not that i can take the time off work to sit in my tax office all day anyway! iv no holidays left and cant afford the time off! SO there is my dilemma, hope someone can help or advise!! xx

Hi there Kimsworld

I can't really help you much I'm afraid. On here we deal mainly with people who have found themselves saddled with overpayments of tax credit through no fault of their own and who are in dispute with HMRC about this.

However, from what I do know, I would say your best course of action would be to contact your MP, tell him about the financial difficulties you are facing because of the inefficiency of HMRC and about the strain this is putting on you at this particular time. He ought to be able to get your payments sorted quickly - there is a special number for MPs to use to contact HMRC and I am sure he will know what it is. Your local Citizens Advice Bureau should also be able to help but your MP probably carries more clout.

Good luck - hope you get it sorted soon!
