Old Posts Meeting at Westminster
Final Chance To Be Part of the Voices of the Victims Booklet!

Tax Credit Casualties' Public Launch to the Media and MPs is in Room N. Portcullis House, Westminster at 3pm on Monday 9th June.

We will be meeting with MPs, politicians and members of the media to tell them exactly what we think of this system and why. Many politicians are in denial about there being any significant problems with the current Tax Credit system, and we want to prove otherwise, by letting real people tell their own stories in their own words.

Please write to your mp asking they attend

Old Posts HMRC Fraud
UK police are to stop searching for the missing child benefit CDs early next week.
Darling is also expected to announce some kind of centralised system to reassure people that data lost won't be used for fraud.

The government continues to blame a junior civil servant for the disaster, even though the CDs were sent unencrypted three times and the HMRC ignored a request to send only part of the information rather than the complete database

With the recent loss of millions of bank details and personal data by HMRC, concerns about fraud are currently in the spotlight.

The loss of the child benefit details appears to be down to human error rather than anything more sinster, but according to Glovers Solicitors this is often not the case - 80% of corporate fraud involves an employee.

HMRC data loss was theft claims colourful ex-con and FBI fraud expert, Frank Abagnale

November 21, 2007 – The current position taken by the Government and reported extensively in the UK media is the loss of 25 million child benefit claimant records by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) is simply an unfortunate blunder arising from sending computer discs in the post. Not so reports Computerworld UK today further to an exclusive interview with Frank Abagnale, the colourful former ex-con, FBI fraud expert and author of Catch me if you can, who says he’s convinced it’s an inside job and straight forward theft given how easy it is to pick things up in post rooms.

“It was not just a mistake. I truly believe that someone paid for the information to be stolen. It’s what happens all the time, that someone acted in collusion with somebody else to steal this data” says Abagnale.
